Effect of systemic and local hepatic thyroid hormone changes in acute and cholestatic liver disease
Thyroid hormones (TH) impact liver metabolism. TH excess improves proliferation of hepatocytes, whereas TH deprivation lowers hepatic synthesis of cholesterol and bile acids. This can not only influence liver physiology but could also be used to optimize treatment decision in liver pathology.
Therefore, we investigate the impact of a systemic and local hepatic TH action in acute and cholestatic liver disease.
